About the Item

A most charming Italian 19th century Alabaster statue of a boy and his cat. The intricately detailed statue depicts a young boy mischievously playing with his cat by luring it with a mouse in a box. The boy is standing and leaning over the back of the chair, with the box under his right shoulder and his cat seemingly climbing up the stretcher of the chair. Inside the box is a charming mouse that is kept inside via the iron bars. The finely detailed young boy is shown with thick curly hair and wearing a shirt with a ruffed collar and sleeves. Wonderful execution and intricate attention to detail throughout.
