About the Item

A striking Italian 19th century patinated bronze, Vert Levanto and black Belgian marble statue of nobleman 'Condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni' on his horse. The statue is raised on a rectangular Vert Levanto marble base with a fine stepped Black Belgian plinth and capital. Above is the powerful patinated bronze noble man Condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni seated on his horse. As a former Captain General of Venice, he is wearing his amour and displays richly sculpted bone hands and face. He is proudly seated in the manner of the statue at Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Venice, Italy which was erected in 1496. All original warm and rich patina throughout.
