About the Item

A most decorative and finely detailed Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue, signed G.F. Lapini. This wonderful statue is raised on an oval marble base where the boy is standing with his legs crossed leaning on a tree trunk. The talented boy is formally dressed in knee-high boots and an animal fur vest over his shirt tied with a ribbon. He plays a straight trumpet which is head up to his lips and his long curly hair flowing out from under his hat. His hat displays a charming rope tied around the crown with a bouquet of budding flowers. Cesare Lapini (1848 - 1893) - Born in Florence, Lapini was a famous and acclaimed Italian sculptor of the 19th century who sculpted both small marble and larger works. Many of his subjects were female and among his most recognized works are Sorpresa, a young woman surprised while disrobing, Il primo bacio, Quanto ti voglio bene, Non Ci Credo, Fior del pensiero; La serenata, and Amore del mare.

A beautiful and extremely high quality Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue of a young Neapolitan fisher boy signed P Bazzanti, Florence 1888. The statue titled "Fisher Boy" is sculpted out of one solid piece of white Carrara marble and is raised by a wonderfully executed rock designed base at the river's edge with finely detailed water flora, and a charming and most unique frog. The young boy is dressed in shorts, a richly sculpted flowing shirt, and a hat while kneeling on the rock with his fresh catch in his hand. A very fine Italian 19th century carved carrara marble sculpture Group Titled "LA GIOIA NELL'INNOCENZA DOPO IL LAVORO" (The Joy of Innocence After Labour) by Professor Raffaele Belliazzi (Italian, 1835-1917).
