About the Item

A most elegant Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue of Venus de Medici. This stunning statue depicts the elegant Venus caught in a momentary pose, as if surprised in the act of emerging from the sea, which is represented by the lovely cherubs and dolphins at her side. Venus stands with her right arm in front of her and left arm covering her waist, as if to shield herself from prying eyes. Her hair is tied into a lovely bun with an elegant head band. Wonderful expressions and attention to detail throughout. Modeled after the original 1st-century BC version of the statue, located in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence.
