About the Item

This cold painted Austrian bronze dates from the late 19th century and is extremely detailed. The figure is signed, or titled on one edge of the carpet, but we could not determine the maker and have posted it as Unknown. This very intricately cast and cold painted bronze figure depicts as Arabian gun merchant offering his wares to prospective buyers while kneeling on a carpet, presumably in an outdoor market. The casting is extremely detailed throughout, and accentuated by the vivid colors used by the artist.
