A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE CARVED STATUE OF A MAASAI HUNTER Circa 1950 Kenya. Almost a lifesize figure of a sitting Maasai hunter holding his spear impressively capturing his character and showing great artistry of the carver’s ingenuity, balancing abstraction with realistic expression. Carved of ebonized ironwood. Figure height, 37" in.( 94 cm.) to the tip of the spear, 44 1/2" in. (113 cm.) width, 8" in. (20 cm.) Wood, Textile, Plant Fibre Iron.
