About the Item

Large mid-century bronze sculpture "Neptune," 1950s Marble base. Replica of the central statue of the Fountain of Neptune (God of the Sea) in Bologna. This fountain was created between 1563 and 1566 by the Flemish artist Giambologna, designed by Tommaso Laureti. The fountain is considered a symbol of papal power, as Neptune rules the waters, thus the Pope rules the world. Found in a noble apartment in my hometown, Palermo. Intact and in good condition.
