About the Item
Beautiful small-scale reproduction of the Medici Venus, sculpted in white Carrara statuary marble with a cylindrical base in green Prato marble. The statue is based on the famous Medici Venus, now housed in the Uffizi Gallery, which depicts the goddess in a "modest" guise, captured in the act of instinctively covering her breasts and pubic area, as if aware of being scrutinized by a prying eye. The model is inspired by the Cnidian Aphrodite, created by Praxiteles in the mid-4th century BC, which enjoyed great popularityin the Hellenistic and Roman periods, being reinterpreted in numerous variations. This statue of great beauty and value, in excellent condition, is remarkable for its stylistic rendering of detail and form, capable of furnishing any space with a touch of antiquity and elegance. Florentine manufacture from the Neoclassical period, around the end of the 18th century.
