About the Item

A delightful antique Meissen porcelain figurine titled “Armor unter dem Pantoffel” (“Cupid Under the Slipper”), masterfully modelled and hand-painted in exquisite detail. The charming putto is shown bowing forward under a large, frilled lady’s slipper, symbolising Cupid humorously being “under command.” His delicate wings, finely shaded hair, soft facial expression and pastel-coloured quiver highlight Meissen’s exceptional craftsmanship. The figure stands on a circular, gilded neoclassical base with beautifully modelled relief details. The underside bears the iconic Meissen crossed swords mark (1st choice), painted in underglaze blue, along with impressed and incised numbers typical for the "Knauf-Zeit" Meissen production. A highly decorative and collectable example of early Meissen porcelain figurines, perfect for lovers of antique European porcelain, Rococo-inspired décor and Cupid-themed artworks.
