Auguste Moreau (1834-1917) was a French sculptor from a famous family of artists. Son of Jean-Baptiste Moreau and brother of Mathurin and Hippolyte Moreau, he specialized in decorative figures, often feminine, marked by softness and romanticism. He regularly exhibited at the Salon starting in 1861. Working mainly in bronze and spelter, his works were highly prized at the end of the 19th century for their bucolic charm and fine detailing.
