About the Item
Beautiful vintage set of Murano hand blown purple and blue with gold flecks Italian art glass fig and banana figures / sculptures. The pieces are documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950s. I have owned several of them before with the original Barbini labels (this ones are without). The fig sculpture does have an original, and fairly intact, “Made In Italy - Camer Glass - New York Venice” silver gallery label still attached. The color is a light purple or lavender, with lines of gold leaf over it. The banana has a more blue color, also with gold leaf inside. The set would make a great display on any dresser, coffee table or curio cabinet. You will be able to showcase them as decorative pieces in any room. They can be used as a paperweights or put them inside a bowl to create a centerpiece. Mid-century era. Measurements: The Fig measures 3 1/2” tall x 2 1/2” wide. The Banana measures 6 1/2” long x 2 1/8” tall x 1 3/4” wide.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
