Attributed to Charles Cumberworth and Cast by Alfred Daubrée

Charles Cumberworth (1811-1852) – Alfred Daubrée (1817-1885)
Daubrée established his foundry in 1850 at 85 Rue Montmartre, Paris, before moving to 48 Boulevard de Strasbourg in 1860. Daubrée collaborated with renowned artists such as FRATIN and CUMBERWORTH, designing a myriad of exquisite bronze objects that showcased his exceptional skill and artistic vision. His work quickly gained recognition for its impeccable craftsmanship and aesthetic beauty, earning him admiration and acclaim from peers and patrons alike.
The pinnacle of Daubrée’s career came in 1867 when he received an award during the prestigious “L’Exposition Universelle” in Paris. This honor served as a testament to his artistic prowess and solidified his reputation as a master of his craft. Daubrée’s sculptures and bronze pieces became highly sought after, coveted by collectors and art enthusiasts for their timeless elegance and exquisite detailing.

Alfred Daubrée
The sculptor Alfred Daubrée was born 1817 in Nancy and died in 1885 in Paris. He started his career in Nancy and continued in Paris where he designed several objects in bronze for FRATIN and CUMBERWORTH. In 1867, he was awarded on the occasion of the "L'Exposition Universelle" in Paris.
