About the Item

A fine German miniature blanc de chine porcelain figurine. Designed by Ernst Andreas Rauch for Nymphenburg Porcelain ca. 1945. In the form of Münchner Kindl, (lit. Munich Child), the symbol of the Bavarian coat of arms. The boy wears monk garb with a pointed hood, making the symbol of benediction with his right hand and holding a book in his left. The boy stands atop a small plinth with a painted shield device resembling the Nymphenburg mark to its front, and an impressed Nymphenburg symbol just below that shield. The reverse of the plinth signed E.A. Rauch. Simply a wonderful figurine of a famous Bavarian symbol! Date: 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with some fine light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Nymphenburg Porcelain Marks: Marked to the base with an impressed Nymphenburg mark / 205. Marked to the front side of the plinth with an impressed Nymphenburg mark, and to the back side of the plinth for E.A. Rauch. Measurements: Height: ca. 4 7/8 in. Width: ca. 2 1/4 in.
