About the Item
An impressive Egyptian Revival type cast stone statue with a unique interpretation of a Greek sphinx. The statue features a double-sided design with two figures showcasing long headdresses and braided hair, neutral expressions, female busts, and paw feet meeting at the waist of lion bodies. The figures recline over a rectangular plinth base with a raised border around the foot. Finished with a thick white glazed finish, making for a stately and distinguished design exuding traditional grand tour and Neoclassical Revival elegance.
Dimensions: 30.25" W x 8" D x 18" H
Condition: Please see detail photos. Distressed. Multiple chips and wear most notably to the corners and nose. General wear to glaze, scratches all mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is mysterious and outstanding.
