About the Item

Pair of late 18th century Italian hand-carved, gilded angels with instruments on aragonite clusters with coordinating Italian hand-carved wood fragment bases. The carved angels and bases are originally from a church in Tuscany and have been naturally distressed with age. The aragonite crystal clusters have applied highlights of gold and coordinate with the distressed layered pigments of the artifacts. The pair was put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she transformed the pieces with the minerals and the period shows that the Italian angels are originally late 18th century. The Italian angels have been put together with the natural elements to create a sculptural pair of organic and historical significance.
