About the Item
A very handsome and high quality pair of French Louis XVI st. ormolu and Rouge Griotte marble statues. Each is raised by an ormolu bottom plate below the mottled edge circular Rouge Griotte marble base. One figure is of a young maiden dressed in classical dress, with her hair in an updo, while holding a water jug downward. The other statue is of a young man similarly dressed, holding a water jug upwards. Both are extremely well executed with richly chased details and wonderful facial expressions.
