About the Item

Pair of modernist porcelain nude figural vases by Sargadelos of Spain, designed by Isaac Díaz Pardo in the 1970s although this pair is likely from the 2000s. The anthropomorphic pair — male and female — are hand-painted with brush in dark blue linear decoration, recalling Picasso-influenced Cubist patterns on a pure white porcelain ground. Their elongated sculptural forms reinterpret the human figure in abstraction, uniting modernist aesthetics with the refined tradition of Spanish porcelain. Both pieces are in perfect condition, the glaze luminous and the decoration sharp, with the female vase showing a subtly lighter blue tone than the male — a nuance that emphasizes their hand-painted individuality. Sargadelos Galician porcelain is renowned for its beauty, style and innovative designs. These rare vases are an outstanding example of their workmanship. Díaz Pardo, co-founder of the modern Sargadelos movement, was central in shaping a design language that merged avant-garde art with Galician heritage. Displayed together on a mantelpiece, console, or bookshelf, this pair makes a striking statement for collectors of modernist ceramics and a refined gift for admirers of Spanish porcelain and figural design.
