About the Item

Pair of Processional Reliquaries with double-sided paintings, carved, gilded, and polychrome wood, Spanish School, 18th century, with original pedestals. Important set consisting of two processional reliquaries in carved, gilded, and polychrome wood, with rich Baroque ornamentation with scrolls, masks, and cherub heads. Each features a central oval medallion with double-sided oil paintings depicting various hagiographic scenes: the Virgin and Child and praying saints, and a holy bishop blessing a young man (probably Saint Nicholas of Bari or Saint Blaise). Both reliquaries retain their original pedestals, a rare detail that confirms their historical integrity. Their liturgical function was linked to both private oratories and convent processions. The polychromy and gilding, in original condition with patina and crackles, reinforce the authenticity of this set. Pieces of great devotional and collector's value, notable for their rarity as they are preserved as a complete pair and with double-sided paintings. 81cm x 14cm x 57cm 80cm x 15cm x 53cm 34cm x 24cm
