About the Item

Patinated bronze cross sculpture on wood base by listed artist Greg Bressani, circa 2018. The piece has a wonderful patina and measures 7"W x 3.5"D x 14"H. The sculpture can be presented on its wood base or removed from the base and stand alone; both pieces are signed by the artist on the underside. #3048 Greg Bressani discovered his passion for sculpture while learning the fundamentals of welding twenty years ago. A passion for exploring the Southwest led him to Sedona Arizona where he worked as a park ranger at an ancient cliff dwelling and rock art site for eight years. This experience ignited his creative process as he continued to weld inspired by visions he had at certain rock art sites. Greg utilizes recycled parts from old farm machinery, cars, motorcycles, copper and other random found metal objects in his work. His sculptures continue to be inspired by travels to sacred archaeological sites, where he receives visions that manifest as art.

Sculptural Crucifixion by the Catalan Artist Xavier Ruscallleda
Located in Vulpellac, Girona
A sculptural interpretation of the Crucifixion by the Catalan artist Xavier Ruscallleda (1944 - 2008). Born in Sant Feliu de Guixols he went to study art at Sant Jordi School of Fine Art in Barcelona. He left to focus on informalism and abstraction in painting during the fifties and sixties. However, he also experimented with sculpture. In this case he created an abstract interpretation of the Christian principle symbol of the Crucifixion. The sculpture is made out of raw iron metal whereby he has used traditional blacksmith methods of smithing and forging to shape the metal. The metal has then been oxide to generate this green patina effect. The base of the object is placed with a rough black rock which holds it in place and allows it to retain its balance. It is an interesting object.
