About the Item

A small pair of antique Dutch carved wooden ladies' clogs from the 19th century, with black paint, square noses, wrinkled tops and small heels. Created in the Netherlands during the 19th century, this pair of wooden clogs, known as Klompen in Dutch, belongs to a tradition that is famous around the world! Used in the Netherlands since the Middle Ages, clogs were created to protect the feet of tradesmen such as farmers, fishermen, artisans or factory workers. Different professions had in fact slightly different shaped clogs. Our petite pair of ladies' clogs showcases a black painted surface with weathered patina and presents wrinkled tops and small heels. With their black color and small proportions, this pair of antique Dutch carved wooden clogs from the 19th century will bring a touch of rustic authenticity to any home décor, whether placed on the top of a commode, buffet or side table.
