Germany or Flanders, first half of the 17th century
Carved and polychromed oak.
Height: ca. 50 cm.
A devotional sculpture of the Virgin Mary, shown kneeling with her head gently inclined and her arm extended. The figure, carved in oak and retaining much of its original polychromy in red, blue and flesh tones, likely formed part of a larger ensemble, possibly an Annunciation or Nativity group.
In fairly good condition, both hands are missing.

This is an outstanding Italian 18th century carved wood polychromed sculpture of Virgin Mary. The Sculpture is hand painted with some remains of a gold gilt in few places and originated until lately in a private Villa in Tuscany (Italy).
