About the Item
A tremendous early 20th century Art Deco bronze group of a strong athletic man holding the leashes of four powerful hounds as they strain to be released. The bronze exhibiting a rich green patinated surface with excellent hand finished surface detail, signed ?Kelety ?and numbered '10'
Alexandre Kéléty (born in Budapest and died in 1940) was a Hungarian sculptor. The date of birth of Alexandre Kéléty is not mentioned in the literature. He was active as an artist, sculptor, painter and engraver from 1918 until his death in 1940. Kéléty married Hélène Grün Kéléty, daughter of the French naturalized Russian painter Maurice Grün. At the end of the First World War , he emigrated to France, where he became a pupil of the Hungarian painter and engraver Imre Karoly Simay in Toulouse. He then studies in Paris. In his works, he often represents animals as well as the theme of childhood. He also produces chryselephantine busts and statuettes depicting dancers and mythological figures in Art Deco style. His favourite materials were bronze, ivory, marble and ceramics.

An enigmatic late 19th Century bronze study of a seated female nude leaning on her knees, hiding her face, on integral naturalistic canted rectangular base, signed to one side DALOU above the cracked mirror (facing to the rear), the opposing side marked Susse Fres Edts the rear with Susse Freres pastille flanked by the letters H P and S.
The title of this subject translates as 'The Truth Revealed' and refers to the young woman inconsolable having seen her true reflection in a mirror, which she has dropped and lies broken on the hard floor.
