Renaissance polychrome and gilded wooden sculpture of Saint Anne, Spain, 16th century Imposing carved, polychrome, and gilded wooden sculpture, representing Saint Anne. Made in the Spanish school around the mid-16th century, it measures approximately 73 cm in height. The figure has a highly expressive face and retains much of its original polychromy and gilding, with wear consistent with its age. The modeling of the drapery, clearly influenced by the Renaissance, lends a natural and solemn movement to the image. The Sculpture is hand painted with some remains of a gold gilt in few places and originated until lately in a private Villa in Tuscany (Italy).
