La scultura qui descritta, realizzata ad intaglio da un blocco di cirmolo nei primi decenni del'600 raffigura San Bernardo da Chiaravalle. La composizione richiama molto l'incisione di Marcantonio Raimondi che agli inizi del XVI secolo raffigurò il Santo con l'abito monastico, una pastorale, la bibbia in mano e un demonio ai suoi piedi tenuto in catene. La scultura è pensata per una nicchia e pertanto non finita sul retro. Il santo in piedi è raffigurato in leggero movimento, con la bibbia aperta nella mano destra e nell'altra la partenza della catena che tiene legato il demone ai suoi piedi; purtroppo la catena è monca della parte centrale ma si completa col collare, il demonio è sottomesso dal Santo che vi poggia sopra un piede. Sebbene le cromie e la doratura presentino lacune e copertura da fuliggine, possiamo notare come l'incarnato del santo sia roseo mentre il demone è rossastro quasi bruno in quanto esposto alle fiamme dell'infermo. Da notare la splendida veste del Santo, che pur raffigurando un abito monastico è laccata nei toni di rosso con ricami dorati all'interno e all'esterno si presenta dorata con ricami bluastri. La veste non è più quella povera dell'eremita ma quella del santo nella gloria celeste che si veste di luce in maggior contrasto col la figura del demonio.
