About the Item

Staffordshire Horse and Rider Figure, England, ca. 1850s A large and expressive English Staffordshire equestrian figure dating from the mid-19th century, circa 1850s. Made in glazed earthenware (pearlware or soft paste), this figurine depicts a proud rider in traditional attire astride a spirited horse. The figure features a glossy white glaze with hand-painted detailing in black and gold — note the fine facial features and feathered headwear. This type of Staffordshire figure was popular in Victorian parlors and mantelpieces, representing scenes from daily life, legend, or nobility. Wear consistent with age and use. There is a small glaze crack (approx. 0.39 in / 1 cm) between the horse's front legs — please see all images for details. Dimensions: Height: 14.57 in (37 cm) Width: 10.83 in (27.5 cm) Depth: 3.46 in (8.8 cm) About Staffordshire: Staffordshire pottery is not the name of a single maker, but rather a collective term for a number of potteries in the Staffordshire region of England, which from the late 18th century to the late 19th century produced vast quantities of decorative ceramics. These figures were typically made inexpensively and in great variety, often unmarked.

Elegant Art Deco Bronze Figure of a Dancing Woman, Sweden, 1930s
By Carl Milles
Located in Frederiksberg C, DK
Elegant Art Deco Bronze Figure of a Dancing Woman, Sweden, 1930s Elegant handcrafted bronze sculpture depicting a stylized female figure standing gracefully with a subtle, upward-reaching posture. The silhouette is elongated and refined, typical of the late Art Deco period, emphasizing harmony, movement, and the timeless beauty of the human form. Cast in solid bronze, the piece has a rich, naturally aged patina that shifts between warm golden-brown and darker bronze tones, giving the surface depth and visual texture. Small areas of verdigris, particularly along the upper edge of the base, attest to the sculpture’s age and authenticity while adding a soft, organic accent. The figure stands on a stepped, square bronze base with softly rounded corners, complementing the fluidity of the sculpture’s form. It is unsigned, but the work bears stylistic similarities to Scandinavian bronze sculpture...
