About the Item

This extraordinary artwork by French glass artist Vanessa Mitrani is a sculptural piece that merges contemporary creation with the powerful visual language of African artifacts. Entirely mouth-blown, the sculpture takes the form of a deep red, heart-shaped glass form, luminous and emotionally charged. While the glass was still molten, Mitrani integrated three authentic 20th-century African arrowheads in forged iron and wood, allowing the arrows to pierce directly through the heart. This dramatic encounter between the fragile, glowing glass and the raw, historical weapons creates a narrative of tension, emotion, and resilience. The red heart reflects vulnerability and passion, while the weathered iron arrows introduce strength, tradition, and symbolic power. True to Vanessa Mitrani’s artistic signature, this sculpture stems from an unpredictable process where glass interacts with unexpected materials. The result is a unique, one-of-a-kind artwork that blurs the boundaries between contemporary sculpture, cultural dialogue, and poetic storytelling. Bold, striking, and deeply evocative, it stands as a singular collectible piece.
