Virgin of La Antigua with Child, polychrome wood carving with silver crown, 16th-17th century This ancient devotional sculpture depicts the Virgin of La Antigua with the Child. Carved in wood and polychromed, it dates from the late 16th or early 17th century. The Virgin wears an original period silver halo and holds the Child in her left arm, facing forward in a blessing gesture. The simplicity of the modeling, combined with the polychromy and traces of gilding and antique patina, reinforces its authenticity and strong liturgical character. The polygonal base completes a piece of great interest to collectors of early sacred art. 54 cm carving, 81 cm base and crown, 22 cm width
