Female nude in terracotta. Signed "St. Lami" on the base. Stanislas Lami is a French sculptor. Stamp mark "Terracotta - R. D'ARLY Paris". This work inspires purity and delicacy. The sculpture represents a kneeling naked woman, the features are fine and pleasant. The work is neat and delicate. The position of the woman calls for calm and tranquility. Our terracotta proof is a reduction of Stanislas Lami's marble entitled "Première Faute" which earned him the second medal at the Salon of 1891. The work represents a young woman kneeling, her arms modestly covering her face with closed eyes. At the dawn of the 20th century, this elegant statuette was part of the symbolist movement and announced the Art Nouveau movement.
