About the Item

This antique iron sculpture is modeled after a classic big wheel (penny-farthing) bicycle, executed with impressive mechanical and material detail. Constructed entirely of iron, the piece features a large front wheel, smaller rear wheel, and a functioning pedal mechanism that allows the pedals to spin the front wheel—mirroring the operation of an actual bicycle. The sculpture is further elevated by thoughtfully chosen materials, including hand-carved wooden handles and a leather-upholstered saddle, adding warmth and contrast to the industrial iron framework. An integrated iron stand allows the piece to be displayed securely while preserving its sculptural presence. The surface exhibits excellent, layered patina throughout, with visible wear to the finish consistent with age and use. This patination enhances the authenticity and visual depth of the piece, making it especially appealing to collectors of antique industrial objects, folk-inspired sculpture, or mechanical curiosities. An engaging and character-rich decorative object, ideal for display on a shelf, desk, or console, and equally at home in traditional, industrial, or eclectic interiors.
