A fascinating mid-19th century medieval style buff terracotta plaque handcarved in relief with Saint George and the Dragon. In this artistic retelling of this legendary story of folklore, St George is depicted slaying the dragon to save the princess and the local villagers. The scene is brilliantly captured in high relief with details of figure and beast still clear distinguishable after more than 175 years. Marked with the tools of its maker, this antique plaque is an excellent historical piece, included with a display stand for closer inspection and appreciation of its subject.
