Hand carved Wood Model Sailing Ship model Margaret Sculpture Center Piece LA CA . A very large and rare 19th century painted wood model of the sailing ship "Margaret". Votive ship. Height 54" width: 61" and depth: 15".
The scale is perfect as it had to be and the quality of work is evident.
Further inspection reveals that no detail was too small, as evidenced by the carved small boats, the ropes, poles and fittings. 5 feet long.
This stunningly beautiful and intricately carved ship model was created by the sailors when they were at sea for many years at a time and they created this amazing model using handmade tools using scraps of whatever was available for carving and bringing this piece of art to life.

The symbolism of water has a universal trace of purity and fertility, it is the source of life since the ancient cultures and considered an aspect of wisdom that takes the form in which it is held. It does not resist, it flows, but always goes where it wants to go to fill empty spaces.

Diving into the analysis of this mysterious bust, it is worth highlighting the earth-mastic texture that evokes a connection with the earth, a reminder of the clay origin of classical statues. In an ode to ancient sculpture, we find a figure covered in a chainmail-like futuristic fishing net. Does it symbolize a fragment of an unknown past, wrapped in the tools of those who have weathered storms and societal movements? A piece that is reminiscent of both the great hours of fashion and personal archaeology unearthed from the depths of the sea. The fishing net, a basic and utilitarian instrument, becomes a stylized veil, giving the bust the status of a found object or even a buried treasure. The small cubes, floating shards of gold, act as luminous landmarks that attract the eye and perhaps, metaphorically, signal hidden troves of meaning.
