The cast is a museum reproduction taken from the original medieval limestone capital dating back to the 12th century, circa 1125-1130.
It is just one of various carved capitals in the Louvre’s diverse artistic collection that was sourced from the Moutiers-St-Jean, a Benedictine Church in Burgundy, France.
