About the Item

This specimen of Giganto Pecten Restitutensis from France, Lubéron, is an authentic collector piece. Absolutely no restaurations, 100% natural, slowly sandblasted with precision and patience. We keep this treatment for only the very best pieces. We preserved the parasitizing Balanomorpha (the little shells looking like volcanos), showing how it was exactly 20 millions years ago when it started fossilizing. You can also see the amazing preservation of the hollow lines on the shell. It is double sided, which means entire specimen, not just the half. We kept the original matrix to make a natural self standing item, but you can also put it on the custom brass and wood stand for a more luxury appearance. Shells dimensions : 15 cm High on stand : 20 cm Total weight : 920 grams If I had to put a piece in my own home, personally, it would be this kind. The price is higher than usual because of the rarity, and the extra time spent of the preparation + the making of the stand and it's materials. Fits for paleontological amateurs or experimented, and also decoration lovers that want a touch of science, history and esthetic at their home or desk.
