About the Item

This rare and beautifully sculpted 4.50 gram Moldavite specimen showcases the natural, aerodynamic form and vibrant olive-green hue characteristic of the finest Czech impact glass. Moldavite is a unique type of tektite, a natural glass formed by the intense heat and pressure of a meteorite impact. Approximately 14.8 million years ago, a massive meteoroid struck what is now Bavaria, forming the Nördlinger Ries crater. The force of the impact launched molten terrestrial material into the atmosphere, where it cooled during reentry and rained down as glass: forming what we now know as Moldavite. This specimen was recovered in the Czech Republic. Highly collectible for both its extraterrestrial origin and natural beauty, Moldavite is prized by meteorite collectors, crystal enthusiasts, and metaphysical users alike. This is a top-quality specimen with excellent surface texture, saturation, and a sculptural, flight-formed profile. Weight: 4.50 g
