Specimen: Faden Quartz Crystal Weight: 561 grams Dimension: H: 14.5 x W: 10.5 x D: 8 cm Origin: Baluchistan Province, Pakistan Treatment: None Faden Quartz is a variety of Quartz forming more elongated to tabular crystals with a fade cord inside crystal going through it. This particular specimen is an incredible example of tabular Faden Quartz with exceptional quality and perfection. It has sharp fine crystal edges well crystalized all around. It has a nice visible faden cord going through from bottom to top. It has magnificent glassy mirror luster with rounded edges. Quartz is the most common and varied mineral found on the surface of the Earth. Its name is derived from a Slavic word meaning "hard." Quartz is naturally made up of silicon dioxide and is found in an impressive variety of colors, occurring in all different forms, habits, and colors. It occurs in all mineral environments and is the essential constituent of many rocks. Citrine and Amethyst are the most popular and valuable gem varieties of Quartz, but other forms also make extraordinary gemstones.
