A cabinet of curiosities trophy, a natural specimen of a horned skull of an African buffalo, Cape buffalo, or Cape black buffalo (Sincerus caffer (Sparrman, 1779)). The trophy is mounted on a shield-shaped walnut base. Sub-Saharan Africa, circa 1890.
