About the Item

Neuralethopteris or Polymorphopteris Tree Fern Fossil, Paleozoic Era, 300+ million years old. Discovered in PA. Colors occur naturally over time through the mineralization process. The intensity of colors and tones will vary slightly from one monitor to another and one environment to another. Since this is a prehistoric fossil it will show its age (of course!) potentially such as cracks, pits, etc. We do our best to find the nicest possible items with the least bothersome imperfections. This fossil comes with stand. IMPORTANT General Information: Measurements are approximate and generally represent the highest, widest, and thickest areas of an item. Species and where discovered are estimated based on available comparisons, research of others, and/or the source from which we obtained the specimen as we are not fossil experts. Please expect that prehistoric items such as fossils may have signs of wear, use, or need for cleaning. Some may also have had repairs/restorations or have been sealed for preservation's sake. Please be aware that the color on your monitor and/or in your environment may look slightly different than in ours, so color is not guaranteed to be exact. Please also keep in mind that vintage and older items usually will show some indication of previous ownership and handling. Buyers of vintage and older items are presumed to understand and accept these. Since we do not do returns, please feel free to send questions if you have any before your purchase and we will be pleased to respond. #rarefossil #extinctfossil #fossil #Paleozoic #treefernfossil #fernfossils #plantfossil #fernfossil #foliage #uniquespecimen #extinctfossilspecimen #organicdecor #Decor #collector #fossilcollection #naturalworld #naturalspecimen #fossils #plantfossil #treefernfossil #seedfossil #prehistoric #Neuropteris #Polymorphopteris #Neuralethopteris #FernFossilSpecimen

Fossilised Wood with Blue-Green Highlights
Located in London, GB
This striking fossilised wood cross-section, dating to the Miocene epoch (23-5 million years ago) and featuring paint-like streaks of greens, blues and browns, is a beautiful natural history specimen and impactful display piece. This is a magnificent example of the results of permineralisation, a process through which buried wood tissue, permeated by minerals transported in water, can transform into vibrant fossils. This particular example has fossilised over a copper deposit, resulting in the bright inclusions of copper minerals that manifest as impressive streaks of blue, green and red. This distinctive colouration is unique to Colla wood...
