About the Item
Extremely Rare Baby Blue Botryoidal Chalcedony Butterfly Geode on Moss Agate Matrix
▫️ Description
Discovered in the mines of Ametista do Sul, Brazil, this exceptionally rare Baby Blue Chalcedony Butterfly Geode features soft pastel blue chalcedony developed over a natural agate and amethyst matrix. Cut and prepared as a butterfly geode, the two halves mirror each other beautifully, revealing a formation that evokes calm, flowing water and layered mineral growth.
The pale blue chalcedony formed over botryoidal nodules, creating smooth, rounded structures that appear to flow inward. This type of coloration is extremely uncommon and likely the result of trace mineral content—such as copper, nickel, or other elements—present in precise conditions during silica deposition. Pieces with this level of color consistency and clarity are rarely encountered.
Adding further depth, the matrix displays layered agate patterns and subtle mineral inclusions, providing contrast against the soft blue chalcedony. Hundreds of tiny golden inclusions (possibly goethite) are scattered across the surface, enhancing texture and giving the piece a natural, organic balance.
Even rarer is the fact that this entire formation developed over a first-generation amethyst, clearly revealing its geological sequence: quartz over chalcedony, over agate, over amethyst.
This butterfly geode is entirely natural and ethically sourced from our hometown of Ametista do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. A true collector specimen, it is well suited for a refined mineral collection, gallery display, or a space that values rare geological formations.

E2D Crystals
E2D stands for Edivan, Elizandro, and Denny, the 3 Toazza brothers who compose this Family Owned Business and all share a passion for the finest Crystals. As a family, we were lucky to be born and live in Ametista do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil: 'The World's Amethyst Capital'. Our story begins in the 1970s, when our father had a small-scale industry of Amethyst, Agate, and Citrine, originating our passion for Crystals and Minerals. After years in the void, but always being surrounded by these fantastic crystals, we decided that it was time to bring our dreams to reality, and in 2020 we started E2D with a Mission: Every item we sell is Ethically Sourced from small miners and lapidaries, leading the path for the development of the whole supply chain, especially for the ones who need more, the miners.
