About the Item
This natural red sculpture called stromatolite, is at least 300 millions years old. These fossils are unique in their kind. The laminar structures are made by the biochemical activity of cyanobacteria (bacterias living from photosynthesis).
It is thanks to these antics living beings that earth started having O2 in it's atmosphere.
These bacterias appeared 3,5 billions years ago, which make them one of the oldest found living being on earth !
Stromatolites from Morrocco at the same time a beautiful exemple of natural art, and a scientific treasure.
This specimen of stromatolite, also called "red desert gogotte" is unique in it's kind, by the mounting and association of 3 simple circular ones.
