A great early 19th century Sicilian Commedia dell'arte rod puppet. Carved and polychrome painted wood with cloth wrapped extremities, hand sewn embroideries, inset glass eyes and a large heavy gauge steel suspension rod. Displayed on a high quality custom made base. Circa 1825. Dimensions: Actual puppet measures 39 inches high.
