About the Item

This piece is an early example of artist William Conrad Severson work on copper. This large botanical form highly stylized in copper with applied patina, was commissioned in early 1950s and installed in the home of St. Louis modernist architect Meyer Loomstein. Photos are available upon request of the residence. A xerox of his work, client list and biography is also available. The sculpture is separated in four sections for easier transportation, in the manner of C. Jere. Would look great in a restaurant, bar or vineyard too. See bio below. Sculpture by William Conrad Severson, 1924-1999, internationally known sculptor of corporate, institutional, liturgical and private commissions. His sculptures can be seen in 28 states and in Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Moscow. He was a co-founder and former president of the St. Louis Sculptors Gallery and the first artist-in-residence at the Missouri Council of the Arts program. A contemporary of Harry Bertoia, one of his last major sculptures, the Millennium Spire, is located in Belleville, Illinois.
