About the Item
This unusual garniture was made in France and is marked correspondingly by the pottery company Alexander Bigot. Created from hand shaped terracotta which has been glazed then hand painted in gold and polychrome colors. The painting is done in the Egyptian taste and features acanthus leaves, scarabs, papyrus leaves and armed soldiers which are shown in a left and right posture making this a true set. The decoration is done and signed by Pinon Heuze on top of the glaze. We have been in business for over 40 years and have never seen this type of wear or this decorator work personally, while we have seen illustrated some examples of his work but nothing in this pattern. there are old repairs that have been professionally done and there are no losses to material or surface decoration. The dimensions given are for the tall pair while the single vase is 10.50 by 9.50
