This decorative garniture takes the form of a vessel yet distinguishes itself by not being hollow. Entirely hand-crafted in Scagliola Renaissance-era technique creating a marbleised 'made-stone' with pigmented composites.
Standing at 48 cm tall and weighing 10 kg, this substantial decorative object is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship involving multi-stage process of filling, sanding, and polishing culminating in a smooth surface that contrasts with areas textured by the artist’s dented fingerprints, adding a tactile dimension.
The scagliola’s striking pigments inspired by the elegance of Ancient Greek Calyx vessels. Here, pigments are carefully blended into composite material in a marbleized form, resulting in an interplay of textures and colours. This garniture serves as both a nod to classical antiquity and a contemporary exploration of material and design, making it a unique eye-catching piece.
