About the Item

This antique olive jar was hand crafted in France circa 1880 using traditional terracotta methods. The generous, rounded form features a deeply ribbed body that enhances both its durability and sculptural appeal. Four evenly spaced loop handles encircle the jar, offering visual symmetry and echoing classical amphora shapes found across southern Europe. The standout feature of this vessel is its remarkable natural patina. Decades of outdoor exposure have produced a richly layered surface with warm, earthen hues, scattered mineral deposits, and faint traces of moss and lichen. This weathered finish gives the piece an authentic, timeworn character that adds depth and distinction. In goodcondition commensurate with age and use, this antique terracotta jar is well-suited for use as a planter, a garden ornament, or a bold decorative statement in rustic, Mediterranean, or country-style interiors.
