About the Item
A striking large terracotta storage jar from the Holy Land, dating to the Iron Age, circa 1200–1000 BC. The vessel is hand-formed in a rounded globular shape, with a short cylindrical neck and two opposing lug handles. Its organic contours and pared-down form evoke a timeless sculptural quality, bridging the worlds of ancient utility and modernist design.
The unadorned surface, weathered with age, carries a warm, tactile patina that speaks to millennia of history while simultaneously recalling the minimalist aesthetics of 20th-century masters such as Noguchi or Brancusi. Both functional and sculptural, it embodies the primal beauty of ancient craftsmanship that continues to inspire contemporary design sensibilities.
