This beautiful enamelled jar, dating to the Qing dynasty in the 19th century, has a short rim and ovoid body and a complex design consisting of two phoenixes flying amidst a field of scrolling peonies. The shoulder is enclosed by cloud bands with a field of scrolling lotus flowers on underglaze blue. A band of striped green and red-tipped leaves decorate the foot rim.
