About the Item
19th Century Chinese Blue and White Chinese Porcelain Double Happiness Temple Jars. The Double Happiness symbol is the central motif used to represent joy and marital happiness, and were often given as wedding presents. Jars are decorated in a blue and white glaze, a style that became popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The symbols are paired with florals and geometric designs to signify prosperity, good fortune and harmony. Jars are characterized by their bulbous shape and high shoulders and would have been used to hold ceremonial items, incense, or other ritualistic items in temples or homes. Each jar comes with a Certificate of Antiquity (see pictures).
