Extraordinary very large highly collectable contemporary Japanese gilded Ko-Imari (Old Imari) three-piece lidded porcelain vase/jar, exquisitely intricately hand painted in blue underglaze and polychrome overglaze enameling in red, green and orange, on a magnificently shaped ribbed body, a dramatic signed masterpiece by highly acclaimed and award-winning master porcelain artist in overglaze enameling and the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his extraordinary porcelain work and his contributions to this centuries old art. The inspiration for this massive extraordinary porcelain lidded vase/jar came from a rare magnificent piece this master porcelain artist created in the past that found its home in a royal palace. The sheer size, the mesmerizing shape, the stunning panels with phonix and flower motif with karakusa or arabesque pattern in gold surrounding them, set against a gorgeous iron-red background, make this an unforgettable piece and the focal point of the space it adorns. The strikingly shaped and intricately hand-painted lid and base add another layer of beauty to this breathtaking piece. This artist has perfected the polychrome overglaze technique to create ceramic pieces with stunning colors. Although a master of the polychrome palette, he explains that both artist and connoisseur finally return to monochrome blue underglaze, the most unforgiving style in hand painted porcelain that demands perfection in execution.
