About the Item

Fladen series was designed by Stig Lindberg for Gustavsberg Sweden in 1958. The dish is formed in shape of a fish with beautifully detailed scales done in relief. Glossy warm brown glaze continues on outer surfaces of the dish; the bottom is unglazed and marked with manufacturer stamp. Stig Lindberg (1916-1982) was one of the most important Sweden's designers of post-war era; his career with Gustavsberg pottery factory lasted from 1937 to 1980. He was renowned for creative and whimsical shapes and patterns. Fladen is one of his most well-known series, a classic example of Scandinavian modern ceramics. The dish is in excellent vintage condition. It measures 8.25" long, 3.9" wide, and 1.25" tall.
