Very Rare Japanese Antique Pottery Jar/13th Century/Tokoname Ware/Wabisabi Jar

Based on that experience, only selected items are posted here. We are able to do this because of our long experience. There may be items on the 1stdibs site that look and feel the same, but the items selected by Brood are unique. This is a pottery called Tokoname ware. It is a kiln with a very long history in Japan. Tokoname is a kiln located in Aichi prefecture, Japan.(Tokoname Kiln is marked with a red circle on the map.) Pottery has been made in this area since BC, and a kiln was built around the 5th century. Also, in Japan, there are 6 historic kilns that are still in operation. One of them. This is a vase that was fired around the 13th century. Don't you think it's a very cool and wabi-sabi pot? Tokoname ware before the 13th century has items with such a cool atmosphere. But not many. In later times, such as the 15th century and the 17th century, kiln production techniques developed and mass production of pottery began. Although this pot was excavated, it is in good condition and the overall shape remains. There are cracks here and there. There are also cracks in the fuselage, indicated by red arrows. But don't worry about it breaking. Please do not worry. We also carefully pack. In addition, the shape of the pottery at that time was such that the shoulders were stretched, and the diameter was the largest at that point, and the diameter decreased toward the bottom. Well balanced and cool. Also, there is a stamp, which is stamped as a charm to ward off evil spirits and call fortune. From the 16th century onwards, such stamps ceased to be used. A vase of the same shape was published in the art book, so I will post the image. This is a very precious vase. And it has a good atmosphere. It's cool to decorate with flowers inside, but it's impressive enough to just leave it as it is. It may be difficult to obtain similar items in the future. Few stores in 1stdibs carry such items.
